Volunteers working a four-hour shift on Thursday or Friday will receive free admission on Saturday or Sunday. Volunteers working two hours on either Saturday or Sunday will receive free admission to the event on the day that they work.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your assigned shift. Enter on the east side main entrance and look for the volunteer check-in desk in the concourse. Volunteers will be given a map and/or brief orientation of the facility showing the location of your shift, the break room and restrooms.

To assist you in choosing the best volunteer opportunities for you, we have listed some of the tasks for each category below:

Check-In Desk – Mostly seated position. 

  • Setup days (Thursday 9am – 5pm & Friday 9am – 5pm), you will check-in volunteers, exhibitors, vendors, and hired contractors or delivery people.
  • Show days (Saturday (8am – 5pm & Sunday (9am – 4pm), the check-in desk will be located in the east concourse. You will collect their Volunteer Agreement and/or have them fill out the agreement. Give them a map of the facility and show them where and the name of the person they need to see regarding their respective shift task. Answer questions as needed. 

Front Desk – Seated and Walking position.

  • Show days (Saturday 8am – 5pm & Sunday 8am-4pm). The most important area during the show days! Front desk volunteers will work inside and outside to assist ticket holders and direct attendees who are purchasing tickets. Hand guests a blank lanyard for them to fill in their own names.  

Photography – Standing and tree lifting position.

  • Setup days (Thursday 9am – 5pm & Friday 9am – 3pm), Assist the photographer by logging exhibit trees as they arrive in the staging area. Assist exhibitors in bringing trees to the photography set and placing them back in the staging area. Coortinate with exhibitors when their tree(s) are ready to be placed in the exhibit area. 

Security – Two-hour Standing position, switching location hourly.

  • Setup days (Thursday 9am – 5pm & Friday 9am – 5pm), Ensure the safety of exhibit and vendor materials by monitoring your assigned area(s) 
  • Show days (Saturday &Sunday), Ensure the safety of exhibit and other areas by monitoring your assigned area.  Further instructions will be provided at check in.

Set Up Team – Highly active position.

  • Set Up Days - Thursday 9am – 5pm and Friday 9am – 5pmUnder the direction of the team leads you will be unloading, lifting, taping, constructing exhibit area walls, using ladders, ironing/steam tablecloths, delivering tables, boxes of tablecloths and other tasks. This team will work as set-up areas are needed.  May be working in specific team and then moved to help another team. Most of the work will be during 

Tear Down Team – Highly active position

  • Sunday (4pm – 8pm but may run later). Disassembly of the exhibit area after all exhibit trees are removed—collecting exhibit tablecloths, collapsing and transporting folding tables.  Several teams may be created to work in different areas.

Volunteer Positions for the 2026 Expo

Want to be more involved in the planning and execution of the 2026 Expo?  We're looking for some earlier volunteers and would love to hear from you! Most of the work is digital/remote so you do not need to be local, but you do need a computer and some software.

  • Submissions Coordinator: maintain submission metadata and manage communications with submitters (Gmail, Google Sheets)
  • Jury Coordinator: edit submission photographs and maintain jury environment (Google Sheets, Trello, photo editing software)
  • Vendor Coordinator: maintain vendor metadata and manage communications with vendors (Gmail, Google Sheets)
